“I purchased the 36" Max w/ Honda engine Spring of 2025. I bought the trailer package as well. Two big crates arrived. Packed well, and following a methodical assy it was done and there were no missing parts. I reached out to support on two occasions. Both issues were responded to quickly. They even included videos for me. I put the sawmill/trailer in an old Horse run-in. We Converted w/ sliding doors and some 21AA crushed concrete. On the entire kit- Everything works as advertised. I cut my first two logs yesterday with a buddy. a Pine and Red Oak. 8ft trunk pieces. We flew threw it all. What a tremendous feeling to grab some downed trees, buck em' up, and go make useful wood for our farm/ranch environment. Very happy and pleased. Had no issues. Even bought a few parts and the MechMaxx folks worked w/ me quicky. Remember -It's a machine. They take a level of understanding, commitment, and experience that I think most rural folks can easily conqer! A few pics included!”

“Struggled with this one. Been looking at the name brand mills for about a year- hard time spending the money. I am a contractor that ended up with a pile of logs. Wood isn't my main play. It was hard to justify $15k-$20k for what I would buy. Guess I decided that to invest $6k was a lot easier to deal with if I never went back to milling after this pile. Upgraded to the Honda motor- no settling there. Took 2 tool guys about 3 hours to assemble and get this mill up and running. Pleasantly surprised at how it ran, the noise level, the smoothness, and the ease compared to an Alaskan style mill. Only done a few logs- so far, it was worth the investment. Only issue we had was we came up one bolt short for the water tank holder. Rest of the issues arise from lack of experience in using a mill. Also- I have nothing to compare it to as far as fit/finish and ease of use. Unit seems solid, well built, solid materials. So far, so good.”

“In shopping for a mill for the past 6 months, I knew I wanted a strong engine and a large mill, as I have about 36 acres of mostly old-growth white oak. After Hurricane Helene, we lost dozens, including some as large as 37 inches across. I compared Norwood, Woodland Mills, Woodmizer, and a few other brands. Then I started noticing MechMAXX and found out that they too had a mill that would suit my needs. The mills in the top of the range of manual mills are largely the same design. A few differences are engine and customer service. Woodland Mills prides itself on excellent customer service. I have a stump grinder and PTO wood chipper from them. I had an issue with my stump grinder, and customer service was pretty good, but communication was somewhat sparse (compared to MechMAXX) regarding a replacement part and shipping took much longer than they quoted and I expected. MechMAXX has been excellent, with probably a dozen updates via email on my mill throughout the process. As far as engine, nothing beats a Honda and MechMAXX has the largest-in-class V-twin Honda engine, period. The value of MechMAXX products (ratio of cost to quality) is HIGH with MechMAXX. The steel is thick, the finishes are very good. They seem to be constantly improving, in service, the assembly manuals and instructions, and they have made great strides in what I have heard was lacking customer support in the past. That has vastly improved now. I had two issues that occurred related to shipping and assembly, and MechMAXX took care of them right away and exceeded my expectations for customer service. I am thrilled with the performance of the mill so far, and just as thrilled with customer service. I will look to MechMAXX FIRST from now on for farm implements and equipment purchases.”

“I have had a great experience with customer service. I have 95% assembled the mill and worked with CS on several small issues. Always prompt and quick resolution to my issues. There was breakage of a fragile part (my fault) while loading the saw head, so I needed a replacement. I told them about it, and offered to purchase a replacement. They provided a complementary part under warranty. Awesome service so far. I have three Woodland Mills products, and MechMAXX easily has equal customer service to WM. I ordered a WM replacement part for a stump grinder and it unfortunately too six weeks to arrive, two weeks after they said it would. I was set to order a mill from WM, but decided on MechMAXX because of the value. I have been impressed, with great customer service on top. Will definitely consider MechMAXX for future products that they offer.”

“After receiving the SM36HMAX and assembling it I was very impressed with the manufacturing quality and fit of all of the parts. I thought the carriage and rail steel thickness might be thin but it is mostly 1/4," same as other more expensive brands. The instructions are lacking but it went together well with not one single bolt or part missing or leftover. Minor paint rubs from shipping as expected. Bad weather here has kept me from using it but by the way it fit and went together I know that it is going to perform great It was hard to decide to go with an unproven brand but I am very glad that I chose Mechmaxx.”

“The MechMaxx SM-36MAX Sawmill is a fantastic machine.The set up and assemble took me longer than expected, and I still have some fine tuning to do and there is a learning curve, however, it cuts beautifully. At a price point that is $3K to $6K less than comparable manual mills from other brands, the mill is a quality machine that is easy to operate. MechMaxx clearly did not skimp on quality on the mill. It is a huge upgrade from my 24” chainsaw mill which cannot handle the 32” logs I have been waiting to mill. That is not to say it does not have its faults or things that could be improved. Possibly the biggest improvement would be to the scale. In its current position and orientation, it is somewhat cumbersome to read and does not provide a fixed height reference. Turning the scale to face the operator's position and inverting it would solve both of those issues. Also, making the scale 36” long would cover the full travel height of the saw-head. For spacing the distance between the rails, I recommend against measuring. Just use the bar and mounts for the log dogs. If they fit snugly between the rails, the distance is right. Also, instead of assembling the carriage on the ground, lay some boards on the bunks and assemble it there. That way when you are ready to stand it up, after assembling nearly the entire machine, you can stand it directly on the rails. Overall, this is a great piece of machinery. And with an absolute maximum saw-head capacity measured at 38” wide by 42” high, it will more than handle anything I have to throw at it though it might be overkill for others. Either way, the SM-36MAX is an excellent first mill. I can definitely recommend it to others.”

“Overall great experience with this mill so far. Coming from a chainsaw mill, I don’t know why the marketing copy for this mill says it’s twice as fast; it is much much faster! Not to mention way less physically taxing. A conservative estimate for me is probably 10x more productivity, and far less waste, but that’s a bandsaw mill in general. Delivery, packaging, and assembly all good. I decided to buy this 36” mill to save some cost over competitors similar sizes and because I’m sawing for personal building projects and I do not regret anything about it. If I was trying to use it professionally and sawing a lot more, there would be some deficiencies, you can tell where they saved some cost. Well done though, and everything works as it should. Take time and be careful setting the mill square and level and you’ll get great products. Check level and other adjustments often and you’ll get consistent great cuts. Other costs I would recommend to factor in: either put a battery tender on or replace the included battery. And buy some other saw bands from a well-known manufacturer to try. The included bands work, but a really high quality band can make a big difference, especially on bigger timbers. Again, super happy with this after putting about 75hrs on it, maxing out its capacity, and producing a lot of good looking timbers. I still think this is the best deal for someone like me looking for the biggest reasonable mill for personal property use. From what I can tell, I expect years of good service from this mill.”
